Jermaine Burton questions continue to be a front and center for Alabama and head coach Nick Saban.

Video surfaced after the Crimson Tide’s loss to Tennessee of the junior wide receiver apparently striking a female Volunteers fan who had made her way with many others onto the field after the game.

Burton, however, played in Alabama’s game Saturday against Mississippi State, catching 2 passes for 40 yards.

The decision to play him following the incident in Knoxville was met with great backlash.

Saban ultimately explained why Burton was not suspended and was asked about the situation agains during Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference.

More specifically, Saban was asked what message was sent to the rest of the Crimson Tide by not suspending Burton.

“It didn’t have any issue with our team,” Saban said.

Saban also said that the plan remains the same for Burton in terms of counseling.

“I think that’s what we’re basically trying to do and see if that is helpful to him.” added Saban.
