LSU has the chance to clinch the SEC West this weekend and the biggest factor has been the play of quarterback Jayden Daniels, according to ESPN analyst Sam Acho.

LSU acquired Daniels in the transfer portal from Arizona State and he’s helped anchor the team to a 7-2 record and No. 7 ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Acho isn’t taking credit away from new coach Brian Kelly, but he believes Daniels is the driver of LSU’s resurgence.

“Jayden Daniels has been putting the team on his back and he’s gotten more and more confident …” Acho said. “They went and got Jayden Daniels from ASU and he’s been all the difference.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior has amassed 1,994 yards, 14 touchdowns and 1 interception.

LSU is coming off a 32-31 overtime win vs. then No. 6 Alabama. This was LSU’s first win against Alabama at home dating back to 2010. In the win, Daniels went 22-for-32 for 182 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

LSU heads to Arkansas on Saturday (12 p.m. ET/ESPN). LSU leads the all-time series 42-23-2 vs. Arkansas. If LSU wins and Alabama beats Ole Miss, LSU clinches the SEC West.
