Mark Stoops understands there is fan frustration across Kentucky after the Wildcats turned in a dismal performance in the loss to Vanderbilt.

At his Monday press conference, Stoops said there are “no excuses” and gave credit to Vanderbilt for outplaying and outcoaching UK.

“We had chances but put ourselves in positions and didn’t make plays,” Stoops said, and added that he will evaluate all aspects of the program. Ultimately, the Cats need to coach and play better.

Stoops added that he acknowledges that he knows people are angry and want answers, so he’s not sticking his head in the sand, but he’s also not going to have any knee-jerk reaction right now.

Stoops noticed about 10 minutes into his presser that he hadn’t said anything about Georgia and laughed about it, then added, “I don’t think I have to.” He praises Kirby Smart and the way the Bulldogs have played all season and noted the great challenge ahead on Saturday.

The game is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS from Lexington.
