Cadillac Williams was not initially expected to be a serious candidate for the head coaching job at Auburn past this season, but that feeling has changed in recent weeks as the interim coach has infused energy into the program.

Asked his thoughts on being mentioned for the job, Williams said after the 41-17 win over Western Kentucky, “I don’t know. I really don’t care. My seat don’t dictate my service. Auburn is special. And those kids are special.”

Most reports have Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin and Liberty’s Hugh Freeze as top candidates for the job.

At the start of his press conference, Williams noted, “2-0 in Jordan-Hare is not bad.”

The Tigers did it with a style Williams would love from his days as a star running back on The Plains. Auburn got dueling 100-yard rushing performances from Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter, and its defense stood tall in the second-half with a shutout as the Tigers won their second game in a row under Williams.
