Alex Golesh, Tennessee’s offensive coordinator, is in the mix for an open head coaching job after he led the Vols to become one of the best offenses in the country this season.

Multiple reports from Brett McMurphy of Action Network, and Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated suggested that Golesh is in line to be the hire at South Florida. Golesh, 38, spent time on Matt Campbell’s staff at Iowa State before he joined Josh Heupel at UCF and then Tennessee. Tennessee led the nation in total offense and scoring offense this season.

Golesh also coached at Illinois and Toledo earlier in his career.

Golesh coordinated an offense last season that shattered 8 team single-season records in Golesh’s first season, including points (511), total offensive yards (6,174), touchdowns (67), point after touchdowns made (67), total first downs (316), rushing first downs (164), fewest interceptions thrown (3) and passing efficiency (167.10).

Golesh has largely coached tight ends and been a recruiting coordinator throughout his career before he was promoted to offensive coordinator at multiple programs.
