Jackie Matthews has decided on his plans for 2023. The Mississippi State senior safety is declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Matthews revealed the news on Twitter in an emotional post.

“When I got the opportunity to come back to Mississippi where my college career began, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass on. I will forever cherish the times we shared on and off the field…” Matthews said. “I’m excited for this next chapter of my life. It took a lot for me to get here but it was all worth it. This just the beginning for me. I’m looking forward to playing my last game as a Bulldog and going out in the right way with my brothers. I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.”

Matthews began his college career at Mississippi Gulf Coast, followed by 2 seasons at West Virginia, and this season at Mississippi State.

Matthews recorded 26 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 pass deflections this season. During his 3 seasons in the Power 5, Matthews amassed 64 solo tackles, 6 pass deflections, and 3 interceptions.
