Auburn’s hiring of Hugh Freeze has been huge news in the SEC, and many are keeping close tabs on how Freeze will fill out his coaching staff.

The former Ole Miss and Liberty head coach has made some staff additions but at this point has yet to name an offensive or defensive coordinator.

Andy Burcham, who’s the voice of the Auburn Tigers, appeared on the “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” show Wednesday to discuss the latest on Freeze’s staff and the feeling around the program about the progress that has been made on that front.

“I’m sure there’s a certain segment of folks that would like to see that staff complete at this point, including the coordinators,” Burcham said. “But I think Hugh Freeze has a plan as to what he’s doing in putting this staff together. I know folks are excited about having Wesley McGriff back on the staff. I think they’ve always enjoyed his work and certainly his recruiting.”

Burcham also added that one potential defensive coordinator for the Tigers is now off the board.

“You now, you read about the folks who have already been signed on, they have outstanding resumes,” Burcham said. “I think folks are excited about seeing the folks who that here but I think also anticipating and looking forward to seeing the coordinator hires. Barry Odom was a name that we heard quite a bit for defensive coordinator and I guess he’s headed to UNLV as a head coach. You can certainly understand that move.”
