Tennessee athletic director Danny White has Tennessee athletics performing at a very high level, and now he’s being compensated as such.

White’s received a new contract Wednesday that is believed to make him the highest paid athletic director in the SEC and top 8 in the nation, according to SI’s Ross Dellenger. White will make $2.2 million annually on a 6-year contract.

White oversight has seen Tennessee football and baseball reach No. 1 in the AP poll, an SEC championship from Tennessee basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis and a final four for men’s Tennis. And that’s just the start of it.

Perhaps most importantly, White’s hire of Josh Heupel has fast-tracked the football program back to national relevance, with Tennessee winning 11 games last season after a terrible 2020 campaign.
