It’s hard to draw any positive conclusions from dropping 2 of 3 games in a weekend series to an inferior opponent. But that doesn’t mean everything has to be negative. Sometimes, that’s just baseball.

And Jace Laviolette made sure Texas A&M didn’t get swept by Portland Sunday, instead ending the weekend on a high note. The freshman outfielder drove in a pair of runs to lift Texas A&M over the Pilots in walk-off fashion, 5-4. Portland failed to make the play at the plate to send the game into extra innings.

The win hands Portland just its 2nd loss of the season.

Texas A&M baseball is now 4-3 on the season, having swept Seattle before dropping 3 straight – once to Lamar and twice to Portland.

The Aggies take on Houston Christian Tuesday before facing off against No. 16 Louisville, Rice and No. 24 Texas Tech in the Shriners Children’s College Classic.
