Former South Carolina DB Rashad Fenton signed with a new team on Thursday. Fenton and the Arizona Cardinals agreed to a one-year deal according to Darren Urban of the team’s official site.

Fenton played at South Carolina from 2015-2018. He played in 43 games for the Gamecocks. Fenton also recorded 122 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 5 interceptions during his college career.

South Carolina has produced corners like Stephon Gilmore in the past. Gilmore played for the Indianapolis Colts last season and will be a member of the Dallas Cowboys in 2023.

Fenton was originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2022 Fenton had 28 total tackles and a pair of pass deflections.

Fenton played in five games for the Chiefs last season before getting traded to the Atlanta Falcons towards the end of the year.

It’s a new era in Arizona as the Cardinals moved on from Kliff Kingsbury in January. The Cardinals will be led by former Philadelphia Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon in 2023.

The Cardinals also re-signed DB Antonio Hamilton on a one-year deal. With the loss of Byron Murphy in free agency, both Fenton and Hamilton could be in line to compete for a starting corner spot.

Arizona missed the playoffs once again after finishing the 2022 season with a 4-13 record. Stay tuned for more free agency news.
