Ricky Council is entering the 2023 NBA Draft.

Council announced that decision on Tuesday morning. It’s not yet clear if Council intends to go through the pre-draft process while maintaining his collegiate eligibility.

Here’s his announcement:

Council spent 1 season with the Razorbacks, and it was a productive one. He scored 16.1 points per game this past season as he played a major role on an Arkansas team that reached the Sweet 16.

Council, a former Wichita State transfer, also posted averages of 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

What this means for Arkansas

Council joins a growing group of players expected to declare for the 2023 NBA Draft. Nick Smith Jr. and Anthony Black are potential lottery picks after just 1 season in Fayetteville.

That means the Hogs will have a completely new back court in 2023-24.

One potential replacement is incoming 5-star freshman point guard Layden Blocker. He is one of two 5-stars in Arkansas’ 2023 recruiting class. The Razorbacks are also expected to be active in the transfer portal as they build a roster for next season.
