Kirby Smart has plenty of reasons to be thankful for quarterback Stetson Bennett. Some of those reasons include a pair of big national championship rings, of course.

Ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, Smart talked about his QB turned program legend multiple times. The head coach of the Bulldogs also indicated he was “blown away” at the amount of interest NFL teams showed in Bennett.

Based on his measurables, Bennett is not a prototypical QB, but there is something to be said about winning back-to-back national titles in the premier conference of college football. Either way, the Los Angeles Rams saw enough to select Bennett with the 128th overall pick in the 4th round of this year’s draft.

That move is well above where most analysts projected Bennett to be drafted, and the move elicited a response from the QBs head coach:

There’s no denying the legacy Bennett leaves behind him with Smart’s program in Athens. From 2021-22, the Bulldogs went 29-1 overall with a pair of national titles. Bennett also finished his career with 8,429 passing yards and 80 total touchdowns.

Best of luck to Bennett as he tries to carve out a role for himself in the NFL! He’ll join fellow Bulldog Matthew Stafford in the Rams’ QB room.
