Sumo-Karngbaye finished 2nd on NC State in rushing last season with 305 yards on the year. He led the team on a per-carry basis with an average of 5.5 yards per attempt.

He was expected to have an even bigger role in NC State’s offense in 2023 before deciding to enter the transfer portal last month.

He now joins a Kentucky roster that will be looking for a No. 1 running back. Chris Rodriguez, who led the team with over 900 yards a year ago, has begun his professional career.

Sumo-Karngbaye will face competition for a leading role, even amongst other transfers. Kentucky added Vanderbilt transfer Ray Davis earlier this offseason. Davis rushed for over 1,000 yards with the Commodores in 2022.

Sumo-Karngbaye will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.
