Joel Klatt would have ranked Alabama higher in his post-spring Top 25, but the Crimson Tide simply aren’t comfortable enough at quarterback. And not as much, in his mind, as Ohio State.

“There’s no other way to get around it,” Klatt said. “That Alabama is not comfortable with what they had in spring ball, so that’s why they had to bring in Tyler Buchner.”

As it stands, Klatt has Alabama at No. 4, and Ohio State at No. 3 behind Georgia and Michigan.

The FOX Sports analyst reiterated that he’s not concerned, but it is a bit “eyebrow raising” for Alabama.

“Tyler Buchner wouldn’t be there unless they felt like they needed something,” Klatt said, and added that Tommy Rees wouldn’t have told Buchner to come to Alabama unless he would play. “Buchner’s not going to transfer to go sit. … Am I concerned? No. Is this going to be a topic moving into the fall? Yes. And it’s the reason I’ve got them just behind Ohio State because Ohio State didn’t need to bring in a transfer quarterback after spring.”
