Tennessee is reportedly in the early stages of pursuing the creation of an ‘entertainment district’ on campus, one that would connect Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena.

Athletic Director White and Tennessee released a look at the potential design and the basic details of their plan for the district, which revolves around a hotel on the south side of Neyland Stadium close to the Tennessee river. Check it out here.

South Carolina is doing something similar to what Thamel’s report is alluding to, with plans to build a $1B entertainment district around Williams-Brice Stadium.

And there’s certainly space for the proposed district to connect the Vols’ 2 major venues, with around a 1/10th of a mile of space to work with between Neyland and TBA.

The area shown in the diagram from the link above is currently a parking garage. Designs would  transform the area into a tabletop retail district with “a boutique, full-service hotel with for-sale condominiums and conference/event space.”
