The SEC West nearly lifted all seven of its teams into the Top 25 on Saturday.

The SEC East nearly kicked all seven out of it.

After knocking South Carolina out of both major polls with a comeback win on the road, Missouri (4-1, 1-0) managed to return to the Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday as the eighth SEC team. The Amway Coaches Poll still doesn’t include the Tigers, which lost to Indiana on Sept. 20.

After an off week, Missouri hosts Georgia, which nearly lost at home to Tennessee. The Bulldogs are No. 13 in this week’s AP Top 25, but it’s possible UGA could’ve slid out just like South Carolina with a second loss before October.

Or is it Mauktober? Maty Mauk and Missouri face Georgia (Oct. 11) and travel to Florida (Oct. 18). Win both, and the Tigers will hold surprise firm control on the SEC East for a second consecutive year.

Missouri ranked as high as No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 19 in the Coaches Poll this season after starting 3-0.
