On Wednesday evenings, LSU coach Les Miles takes a few minutes to speak with the assembled media after practice. Here are a few of the dispatches the Mad Hatter gave this week.

  • Miles called Wednesday’s practice “an ambitious undertaking of the game plan.”
  • Both quarterbacks, Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings, are “all in.” Harris has been taking the majority of the reps with the first team.
  • Starting defensive tackle Quentin Thomas, battling a torn biceps, has not yet practiced this week after missing the game against New Mexico State. Meanwhile, fullback Connor Neighbors was a practice participant.
  • Freshman safety Jamal Adams, who will be replacing the injured Dwayne Thomas in the defensive backfield rotation, is playing like someone who is prepared to be a starter, according to Miles. The coach called the safety’s injury an “indefinite” absence, but hopes Thomas will return at some point this season.
  • LSU has been preparing for Auburn’s crowd noise for some time, and Miles told reporters that the noise at practice is loud enough to cause headaches.
  • Miles cited “gap responsibility” as one of the most important keys to the game for LSU on Saturday against Auburn. On that note, redshirt freshman Frank Herron practiced at defensive tackle on Wednesday.
