KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — You know the old saying in college football that the bye week always seems to come at a good time? Well, for the University of Alabama football team it’s once again true.

The No. 4 Crimson Tide had two key starters leave early in the third quarter of Saturday’s 34-20 victory at Tennessee, one of whom may be out for a bit: Freshman left tackle Cam Robinson due to a high ankle sprain.

“I don’t know what his status will be,” Coach Nick Saban said. “We’ll determine that tomorrow.”

Junior safety Landon Collins went straight to the locker room with a cramp after needing to be helped off the field following the subsequent punt, but did return after having an IV. Without him in the game, Tennessee went on a 15-play 84-yard touchdown drive.

“I warmed up and didn’t feel anything,” Collins said. “I made a little more and it cramped up on me.”

Senior tight end Brian Vogler, who has already been dealing with a high ankle sprain all season, sustained a sprained knee. Senior wide receiver Christion Jones tweaked his hamstring while warming up and did not play.

“I don’t think it’s that bad, but we’ll have to see,” Saban said. “A couple of guys have ankles, toes, sprained foot.”

With Robinson out Alabama moved senior Leon Brown over from right guard to left tackle and inserted redshirt freshman Bradley Bozeman at right guard. Bozeman had replaced Ryan Kelly the previous two weeks after the junior center sustained a sprained knee at Ole Miss.

“We tested the knee out all week,” Kelly said. “I knew coming out that I was going to feel great.”

With Robinson’s setback every starting offensive lineman had had some sort of an injury over the past couple of weeks. Senior guard Arie Kouandjio had had an ankle problem and senior right tackle Austin Shepherd left last week’s game against Texas A&M with a sprained ankle and knee.

Alabama (7-1 overall, 4-1 SEC) returns to action in two weeks when it visits LSU.
