If there’s one thing the Georgia Bulldogs are going to do every game — and do it well — it’s running the football.

That didn’t change this past Saturday against the No. 9 ranked Auburn Tigers. UGA’s star running backs Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb ran over the Tigers’ defense for a combined 282 yards and three touchdowns on 48 carries.

Chubb led the team with 144 rushing yards, 48 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 7.6 yards per carry.

“It was a team effort,” Chubb said after the game. “Offensive line did a very good job opening holes. It was a great environment and just a great job by everyone.

Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Gurley’s return from a four-game suspension was short-lived. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee late in the fourth quarter, ending his season and likely his UGA career since he was a probable early entrant into the NFL Draft.

Nevertheless, Gurley went out on top rushing for 138 yards and one touchdown, all while dragging Auburn defenders along with him.

“We feel like we can run the ball well,” UGA head coach Mark Richt said following the win. “We have a great line and backs who are big, physical beasts. …Todd played fantastic. He played well and inspired his teammates. Chubb is a physical back who runs with determination. He has more ability to make people miss than you’d think and he has good vision. He’s a good back, a special back.”
