Mark Richt will watch Missouri and Tennessee in his PJs.

Yes, you read that correctly.

With a 12 p.m. kickoff time for Georgia and Charleston Southern this weekend, UGA head coach Mark Richt plans taking in the prime-time matchup of Missouri and Tennessee while sitting comfortably in his pajamas.

“On Christmas Eve we always open one present getting ready for Christmas day. So far it’s always been a set of PJs,” Richt said during his Tuesday press conference. “Everyone in the family gets PJs because in the morning momma wants everybody to have nice looking PJs for when we take pictures opening gifts. So I’ve got a lot of PJs at my house and I appreciate those.”

“I’m not sure which ones I’ll wear [Saturday night].”

Richt later confirmed he didn’t have any orange PJs, although he made it known over the weekend that he’ll be openly rooting for Tennessee to beat Missouri so that his ‘Dawgs will clinch a spot in the SEC Championship.

The idea of Georgia rooting for Tennessee isn’t something that occurs very often considering the heated rivalry between these two SEC East schools. But Richt won’t be alone in cheering on the Volunteers come 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.

Junior defensive end Sterling Bailey is planning to go all out in his fandom for Tennessee this weekend, going as far as learning the Vols’ popular song.

“I’ll probably just turn on the TV and be singing good ol’ Rocky Top,” Bailey said. “I don’t know all the words but hopefully before then I’ll learn them.”

Georgia finished its SEC season with a 6-2 conference record and defeated Missouri 34-0 back in October. Despite holding the tiebreaker over the Tigers, UGA is relying on Missouri faltering in one of its last two conference games since the Tigers only have one conference loss, a situation some Georgia players are all too familiar with.

“We don’t like depending on someone else, as far as destiny, but sometimes that’s just the way things go,” Bailey added. “In the past couple years, we’ve been in this same situation. It’s tough, but it is what it is.”

Missouri will play at Tennessee this weekend before concluding its SEC season with a home matchup against Arkansas.
