Here are the five biggest takeaways from Florida’ 52-3 win over Eastern Kentucky.

1. No quarterback controversy — True freshman Treon Harris didn’t look sharp against KEU. He only hit on a third of his passes (4-for-12) and his passing numbers were inflated thanks to a couple of deep throws (162 yards and two touchdowns). On the other hand, Jeff Driskel looked very comfortable during his time in the game. The redshirt junior took advantage Harris’ injury which forced him out of the game and completed 9-of-11 for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Driskel looked like a shell of his former self this year. He looked strong, smart and confident. But head coach Will Muschamp squashed any idea of a QB controversy for FSU in his post-game interview, saying Harris was the QB moving forward.

2. Players want to win for Muschamp — If there was any doubt of the players’ feelings for Muschamp as he finishes out his career at UF, that’s all gone now. Jonathan Bullard and Alex McAlister showed their support of Muschamp during the game through messages on their eye black as well as their mouth guard. We’ve always heard how much the players enjoy playing for him and it showed yesterday and throughout the past week after news of his dismissal broke. I expect a very emotional and motivated Florida team next week against FSU.

3. Offense still struggled at times — The 53 points can be deceiving if you didn’t follow the game closely. Despite the production, Florida’s offense struggled during portions of the game. The offensive line didn’t get much push on EKU’s defensive line and several times the offense looked anemic. Against FSU’s defense next week, it’ll be much tougher for Florida to move the ball already, but if the Gators are unable to execute, it could be a long day.

4. Adam Lane gave the offense some life — Yes, it’s against EKU and in the final minutes of a blowout, but running back Adam Lane looked impressive during his limited time. He’s smaller than the other backs at just 5-foot-7, 222-pound redshirt freshman packs a punch. He was shedding tacklers on every carry and was explosive. Certainly, Matt Jones and Kelvin Taylor will be the 1-2 punch this season, but perhaps Lane is helping making a positive impression of himself for the new coaching staff next year with runs like he had yesterday.

5. Gators accomplished their goal — All week long, the Gator players talked about sending out the seniors and Muschamp in style with a win in their final home game. They did that. All game long, Florida dominated EKU and the result was never really in doubt. Sending Muschamp and the seniors out with a home win is one thing, but next week is an entirely different animal against FSU. The Gators will look to channel the 2004 team’s season and send their outgoing head coach with another win at Doak Campbell Stadium.
