Unfortunately, ESPN hasn’t rolled out an SEC version of NFL RedZone for the conference’s new network. It would fit well on the alternate channel and would’ve rocked this season. Instead, we’ll keep track of red zone stats for you each week.

OFFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

A number of SEC teams had productive days in the red zone on Saturday, led by Mississippi State and its 7 for 7 day inside the 20 in a win over Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs improved their red zone success rate to better than 84 percent for the season, and their six red zone touchdowns improved their red zone touchdown rate to 67 percent in 2014.

South Carolina was also perfect in the red zone in a win over South Alabama on Saturday, converting on all four of its red zone trips against the Jags. The Gamecocks scored two touchdowns on those four trips, and their 89 percent success rate in the red zone is now fourth-best in the conference.

Missouri continues to lead the SEC with a red zone success rate of better than 94 percent, having failed on just two of 35 red zone trips this season. The Tigers scored on all four of their red zone trips in a win over Tennessee, which has boasted the SEC’s worst red zone defense this season.

Florida was also perfect inside the 20 on Saturday, scoring on 3 of 3 red zone trips in a win over Eastern Kentucky. The Gators scored touchdowns on all three drives in a 52-3 rout of the Colonels to maintain the SEC’s second-most-efficient red zone offense.

Ole Miss had the worst day in the red zone of any team in the SEC, failing on both its trips into the red zone in a 30-0 loss to Arkansas. The Rebels success rate in the red zone dropped to below 75 percent for the first time this season, and Ole Miss is the only ranked team in the SEC with a success rate of worse than 82 percent.

Vanderbilt also came up empty in the red zone on Saturday, failing to score on its only trip inside Mississippi State’s 20 in a shutout loss against the Bulldogs.

DEFENSIVE RED ZONE STATISTICS

Mississippi State continued its brilliance in the red zone in 2014, holding Vanderbilt scoreless in Saturday’s blowout win. The Bulldogs have held their opponents scoreless on more than 40 percent of their red zone trips, giving State the best red zone defense in the country. No other team in the nation has held its opponents scoreless on more than 33 percent of red zone possessions this season.

Auburn improved its standing as the SEC’s second-best red zone defense, allowing Samford to score on just 1 of 3 red zone trips in Saturday’s 31-7 win on the Plains.

South Carolina has allowed its opponents to make more trips into the red zone than any other team in the conference, allowing 53 red zone possessions in 11 games this season (no other team has allowed more than 49 this season). The Gamecocks did hold South Alabama scoreless on one of its five red zone possessions while limiting the Jags to just four field goals on its four scoring drives.

South Carolina has only allowed touchdowns on 58.5 percent of opponents’ red zone possessions, which ranks in the top half of the SEC in 2014.

Arkansas held Ole Miss scoreless on both of its red zone trips on Saturday, intercepting Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace twice in the end zone to post the its second straight shutout against a ranked opponent. The Hogs maintain the third-best red zone defense this season, joining Mississippi State and Auburn as the only teams in the SEC to allow scores on fewer than 70 percent of opponent red zone trips.
