Five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson (Glen Saint Mary, Fla.) got an in-home visit from Nick Saban on Wednesday just a few days before a recruiting dead period.

Jefferson (6-foot-2, 250 pounds), ranked by 247 Sports as the nation’s No. 2 defensive end in the class of 2015, apparently introduced the former LSU coach to alligator meat.

Jefferson took an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Oct. 17. He also holds offers from Florida, Ole Miss and Georgia.

The Gators are considered by some, including 247 Sports, to be the favorite to land Jefferson, but it’s too early to tell how the coaching change with Jim McElwain will affect his decision.

It may be the first cut-throat recruiting battle over a 5-star player between Saban and his former offensive coordinator. Saban is considered a defensive coach, but Jefferson resides in Florida. It would be a huge victory if McElwain can beat out his former boss, and he’s already been in touch with Jefferson this week.
