Butch Jones is recruiting his tail off at Tennessee this season and he’s not done yet.

Ugo Amadi, one of Tennessee’s top targets at cornerback, committed to LSU on Dec. 30 but the Vols feel they’re still in play for the three-star prospect from nearby Nashville following Thursday’s announcement of his decommitment from the Tigers and verbal to Oregon.

Amadi had stated on record that defensive coordinator John Chavis’ departure to Texas A&M wouldn’t affect his final decision and the Tigers were confident he would stick.

Last weekend during the U.S. Army All-America event, five-star defensive tackle Kyle Phillips committed to Tennessee over LSU and Ole Miss. The Vols are hoping several others follow suit including Amadi.

Tennessee’s current class of 27 commits is ranked fourth nationally according to 247Sports and features nine early enrollees. Much of that talent falls on defense where Jones is building a monster for years to come.
