It took a few extra man hours this week from offensive line coach Shawn Elliott and the rest of the South Carolina coaching staff, but the Gamecocks got the news they wanted to hear Friday night when four-star tackle Christian Pellage reaffirmed his commitment:

Pellage told 247Sports that his mid-January official visit to Florida made him think about his original commitment to the Gamecocks, a chance to play early in his home state at a position of need for first-year coach Jim McElwain.

Elliott’s been the point man for the Gamecocks and sealed the deal last week with an in-home visit along with Steve Spurrier and running backs coach Everette Sands.

“My relationship with Coach Elliott had a huge impact with this decision,” Pellage said according to 247Sports. “It wasn’t always about football. We got to know each other personally and I know I can trust him in my development as a player and a person.”
