Jim McElwain and the Florida Gators have had to piece together a recruiting class in a limited amount of time, and they took a step in the right direction Saturday by flipping former FIU offensive line commit Richerd Desir-Jones.

The three-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and high school football factory St. Thomas Aquinas announced his most recent commitment through a series of tweets from his Twitter account.

Desir-Jones made the decision while on an official visit to Florida this weekend. He originally committed to FIU in July, but after making official visits to FIU, South Florida and UF this month he experienced a change of heart.

He’s now the 11th commitment in Florida’s current 2015 recruiting class, which will have to rely on some pivotal four- and five-star signees on National Signing Day to climb out of the SEC cellar in 247Sports industry composite rankings.

Desir-Jones played both offensive guard and defensive tackle in high school. Many assume he will play along the offensive line with the Gators due to Florida’s lack of offensive line depth.
