Four-star QB Ervin “Woody” Barrett, who made recruiting trips to Alabama and Auburn earlier this month, sent a jolt through Twitter on Sunday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 213-pound dual-threat quarterback from Orlando, Fla., sent recruiting analysts scrambling to their laptops anticipating a surprise announcement. Most project Barrett will head to Auburn.

Then Barrett revealed the punch line.

Those looking for the ’16 class version of CeCe Jefferson, a touted five-star defensive end who seemed to delight in toying with fans and analysts on Twitter throughout his recruitment, may want to give Barrett a follow. He got quite a kick out of his own joke Sunday.

The Tigers would love to see Barrett head to The Plains in ’16 and give coach Gus Malzahn yet another quarterback option to plug into his tremendous offensive system.

“He’s like a dang Mike (line)backer playing quarterback,” Barrett’s high school coach, Bob Head, recently told AL.com. “He’s like that Nick Marshall kid, a really, really big physical kid. He has a really strong arm.

“He needs to become more accurate and needs to be a better quarterback per se, but a really strong runner. He has really good instincts. He has a pretty good release. Still working on it, but he’s just a real dynamic player.”
