Ole Miss fans have every reason to be excited about five-star quarterback commit Shea Patterson. After all, he is one of the top quarterbacks and overall players in the class of 2016 and is the jewel of the Rebels’ current crop of commits.

Apparently, Rebels receivers should be a little worried about Patterson’s arrival in 2016.

According to a report from the Shreveport (La.) Times, Patterson was throwing the football around with his younger brother, Nick, following Shea’s baseball game on Thursday. On one of his last throws of the session, Shea rifled a pass that went through Nick’s hands — and snapped one of his fingers.

From the Shreveport Times article:

“It was one of my last throws of the night,” Shea said. “I was rolling out – about an 18-yard comeback – and it just went through his hands.

“He was jumping up and down and I was like, ‘Come on, get the next one.’ It was pretty funny to me up until he pulled off his glove.”

An x-ray showed Nick’s pinkie separated above the second knuckle.

It’s not like Nick is some little punk, either; Nick, a seventh grader, is already 6-feet tall and plays tight end for Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport.

Patterson committed to Ole Miss in February, picking the Rebels over his home state school, LSU, as well as teams such as Arizona State and Southern California. Considering the Rebels current quarterback situation, he could have a chance to play as soon as he gets to campus.

Be warned, Rebels receivers: come 2016, your fingers are at risk.
