They don’t call it “NFLSU” for nothing.

LSU started last NFL season with more alumni on rosters than any school in the nation. Through 2014, 38 LSU players had been chosen in the first round of the NFL draft, and that number could well grow on Thursday, with La’el Collins and Jalen Collins both potential first round picks.

Much of that talent has been elite, too. LSU has produced a top-10 pick at seven different positions. That includes two players who have been taken with the first overall pick: quarterback JaMarcus Russell and halfback Billy Cannon. Cannon was actually chosen with the top overall pick twice — once in the 1960 NFL draft, as well as in that year’s AFL draft. Cannon opted for the AFL, going on to a brilliant career with the Houston Oilers and later the Oakland Raiders.

We look today at the highest draft pick at each position for the Tigers. As Les Miles has cranked out the NFL talent, he’s made quite the mark with the program. High picks at the six of the 12 positions we list here have come during Miles’ tenure with the Tigers, while they have had a third of their first round selections (13 of the 38) come under Miles’ watch.
