There are 11 states with at least one SEC football team, including Florida, Texas and Georgia.

With such fertile football territory, it’s no wonder the conference does so well with recruiting. In the 2016 class alone, six of the consensus Top 10, as judged by the 247Sports composite rankings, hail from SEC-affiliated states.

Here’s an introduction to the No. 1 recruit from all 11 states.

ALABAMA

Five-star OLB Lyndell Wilson

National Rank: 8
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 220 pounds
247Sports prediction: Alabama

The current thinking is that Wilson’s commitment will come down to a recruiting Iron Bowl of sorts. The Crimson Tide sure could use a pass-rushing linebacker, while the Tigers’ Will Muschamp would love to add a top-notch versatile defender to his arsenal.

ARKANSAS

Four-star DE McTelvin Agim

National Rank: 53
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2.5, 268 pounds
247Sports prediction: Arkansas

Three of the Top 10 recruits in the state of Arkansas already have committed to the Razorbacks. But Agim is a huge priority for coach Bret Bielema’s staff. The team can sell one of the most dominant defensive lines in the country to Agim. Oklahoma and Alabama are considered the two closest competitors for Agim’s services.

FLORIDA

Five-star DE Shavar Manuel

National Rank: 5
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 290 pounds
247Sports prediction: Florida State

Manuel named FSU his leader in April, and he’s spent more time taking unofficial visits to the school and interacting with the Seminoles than any other program. He’s shown cursory interest in Alabama and Miami, and Ohio State appears to be making a concerted effort to get into the mix. But it seems unlikely that the Florida Gators will be able to land the state’s No. 1 player.

GEORGIA

Five-star DT Derrick Brown

National Rank: 4
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 305 pounds
247Sports prediction: Georgia

Brown almost certainly will play college football for an SEC team. But which one? After naming UGA as his leader earlier in 2015, he since has backed off that statement. Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and LSU also are pushing hard to get involved in the Brown sweepstakes. His recruitment could be one of the major SEC battles of the ’16 class.

KENTUCKY

Four-star OT Landon Young

National Rank: 135
Height/Weight: 6-foot-7, 270 pounds
247Sports prediction: Ohio State

Young initially committed to Kentucky in June 2013. Since, he’s attended multiple camps in Lexington, including the Wildcats’ Junior Day in February. But he took an unofficial visit to Ohio State at the end of May, causing one recruiting analyst to project him to flip to the Buckeyes by National Signing Day. UK needs to keep pushing Young toward Lexington — hard.

LOUISIANA

Five-star QB Shea Patterson

National Rank: 12
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 195 pounds
247Sports prediction: Ole Miss

If Patterson was 6-foot-5 instead of 6-foot-2, he could be the No. 1 quarterback in the country and probably would be a consensus Top 5 player. Patterson is elusive in the backfield and he’s got great mechanics for a high school kid. It’s unfortunate for LSU that Patterson has committed to the Rebels, but then again, the Tigers have their own standout prep quarterback commitment in Feleipe Franks. Ole Miss must continue to fend off other suitors — including USC — as quarterback talent like this doesn’t get left alone due to a non-binding verbal commitment.

MISSISSIPPI

Four-star DT Benito Jones

National Rank: 62
Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 260 pounds
247Sports prediction: Alabama

Jones attended a camp in Tuscaloosa in July 2014 and in Oxford in August 2014, committing to the Tide and then reneging in favor of the Rebels. He took an unofficial visit to Alabama in April, and the Tide followed up with an in-home visit the next week. But then he attended a Rebels camp earlier this month. Can coach Hugh Freeze keep Jones, or will coach Nick Saban and company flip him back to Bama?

MISSOURI

Four-star RB A.J. Taylor

National Rank: 280
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 190 pounds
247Sports prediction: Wisconsin

Currently, analysts think the Badgers hold a slight edge with Taylor, though the home-state Mizzou Tigers are the other likely option. One year after signing four-star quarterback Drew Lock, coach Gary Pinkel and his staff would love to convince the state’s No. 1 player to remain at home in back-to-back years. But the Wisconsin backfield is an attractive place for a running back.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Five-star RB Tavien Feaster

National Rank: 26
Height/Weight: 6-foot, 204 pounds
247Sports prediction: Clemson

Despite getting attention from schools throughout the Southeast, Feaster committed to Clemson in February and seems like a pretty secure pickup for the ACC’s Tigers. A track star, Feaster ran a 10.42-second 100-meter dash at the state championships in May and should be a terrific all-purpose back in college.

TENNESSEE

Four-star OLB Daniel Bituli

National Rank: 172
Height/Weight: 6-foot-3.5, 235 pounds
247Sports Prediction: Tennessee

Bituli has taken five unofficial visits to the University of Tennessee, attended the Vols’ Junior Day in March and named the program his leader in January. He would represent a great addition to Tennessee considering the Vols should lose some strong pass rushers in the next two years, but Ole Miss will do its best to pry him from the Volunteer State.

TEXAS

Five-star OT Gregory Little

National Rank: 2
Height/Weight: 6-foot-5.5, 305 pounds
247Sports Prediction: Texas A&M

In the running to become the nation’s aggregate No. 1 player in the 2016 class, Little committed to Texas A&M about one year ago. But unlike some of the players on this list, no one believes that’s an iron-clad, unwavering choice. The Aggies remain the prohibitive favorite to land this year’s best offensive tackle, but everyone wants this kid. Alabama and Oklahoma have the best chance to wedge between Little and College Station, Texas.
