Keyshawn Johnson Jr., the son of NFL great with the same name, is drawing heavy interest as a 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior-to-be. A four-star member of the 2017 recruiting class, the Mission Viejo, Calif., native released his top eight schools Friday night.

Johnson Sr. played at USC, which is an early favorite to earn his son’s services.

But Alabama and Ole Miss made the final eight and will have a chance to woo the blossoming wideout.

The Crimson Tide in particular are well-positioned on the West Coast. Four-star offensive tackle Jonah Williams (Folsom, Calif.) is the top Tide commitment of the 2016 class, and five-star quarterback Blake Barnett (Corona, Calif.) was the headliner of the 2015 class. Alabama assistant coach Tosh Lupoi, a key recruiter, has strong ties out West.
