On Tuesday, it was announced that Alabama has added Southern Mississippi to its 2019 regular season schedule. The Golden Eagles will head to Tuscaloosa for the clash.

The game will take place on Sept. 21 — with the Golden Eagles receiving a $1.85 million guarantee for the contest.

Both programs have played each other 43 times dating back to 1947. The two teams last faced off against each other in 2014 — with the Crimson Tide beating the Golden Eagles by a score of 52-12. This extended Alabama’s series lead to 35-6-2.

This is fascinating game for Nick Saban’s team. USM is an up-and-coming program with an explosive offense. Dually, there are multiple members of the team from the state of Mississippi. One would think they’d relish the opportunity to play a home-state institution.
