When it was announced on Sunday that Alabama would be the No. 4 seed in the College Football Playoff, it came as a surprise to some people — particularly those in Columbus, Ohio.

Nick Saban’s 11-1 squad did not make the SEC Championship Game after losing to Auburn 26-14 in the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25.

Still, it got the committee’s edge over Ohio State, which defeated Wisconsin for the Big 10 championship on Saturday. The Buckeyes had a pair of ugly losses to Oklahoma (31-16) and Iowa (55-24).

While some may believe Ohio State should have gotten the nod, it didn’t. Alabama did, and believe it or not, the Crimson Tide is actually the favorite to win the national championship, according to 5Dimes.

The odds were set on Sunday, according to a tweet from OddsShark.
