Alabama has found its next baseball coach to replace Brad Bohannon, who parted ways earlier this season following a gambling investigation.

Alabama is expected to hire Maryland baseball coach Rob Vaughn as its next head coach, John Talty of 247Sports reported. Vaughn played at Kansas State and is originally from Humble, Texas. He previously was an assistant coach at Maryland from 2013-17 before he was promoted to head coach.

The 2022 and 2023 Big Ten Coach of the Year, Vaughn led the Terps to their first B1G Championship in history in 2022 and their first B1G Tournament Championship this season.

Vaughn went 183-117 in 6 seasons with Maryland including guiding the Terrapins to NCAA Regionals the last three seasons. The Terps were knocked out by George Mason in the Wake Forest regional this season. The Terps were 84-54 in B1G play under Vaughn.

Alabama pitching coach Jason Jackson took over as interim coach and guided the Crimson Tide to a Super Regional before the Tide lost to Wake Forest. Talty reported that Jackson is expected to stay on as Vaughn’s top assistant.
