For the second time in less than a month, Alabama has seen another defensive back enter the transfer portal.

This time it’s Brandon Turnage after Ronald Williams did so April 23, Bama OnLine reported. A redshirt freshman during the 2020 season, Turnage played in three career games, including two during the 2020-21 campaign, and registered one pass breakup against Mississippi State.

It appears that Turnage is looking for more playing time after the spring two-deep depth chart was Josh Jobe and Jalyn Armour-Davis alongside backups Marcus Banks and Ga’Quincy McKinstry.

Turnage was a 4-star recruit from the 2019 cycle. A native of Oxford, Miss., he was No. 11 cornerback and 102nd prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite, while 247Sports itself ranked him as the No. 8 player in the state and the No. 13 cornerback.

Entering the portal has been a trend in recent months, and Alabama also had its share of players.

Eight Alabama players entered the NCAA transfer portal either during or after the 2020-21 season in defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher, linebackers Ben Davis, Ale Kaho and Kevin Harris, defensive backs Turnage, Williams and Eddie Smith and kicker Joseph Bulovas. Sopsher transferred to USC, Davis transferred to Texas, Kaho transferred to UCLA, Harris transferred to Georgia Tech, Smith transferred to Illinois and Bulovas transferred to Vanderbilt.
