Jalen Hurts is returning to Alabama – the state of Alabama, that is. The Senior Bowl announced on Sunday night that the Sooners quarterback will play at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Jan. 25.

After graduating from Alabama in 2018, Hurts transferred to Oklahoma ahead of the 2019 season, but remained a favorite of many Crimson Tide fans for helping the team any way he could during the 2018 season despite losing the starting job to Tua Tagovailoa. This past season with the Sooners, Hurts posted career-highs in passing yards (3,851), passing touchdowns (32), rushing yards (1,298) and rushing touchdowns (20) while guiding OU to the College Football Playoff.

Media members are speculating that Hurts will be the game’s biggest star since Tim Tebow (January 2010). For many Alabama fans, it’s a unique opportunity to see the former Tide quarterback one last time before he joins an NFL roster.

In addition to being an Alabama return for Hurts, it could also be an opportunity for him to sport (a piece of) the Crimson Tide uniform. Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy encouraged fans to vote in a poll on whether Hurts should wear an Alabama or Oklahoma helmet in the game.
