Bryce Young’s availability is one of the major topics heading into the undefeated clash between No. 3 Alabama and No. 6 Tennessee.

The Alabama quarterback missed the Crimson Tide’s game vs. Texas A&M in Week 6 with a shoulder injury on his throwing side. Alabama coach Nick Saban provided an update on Young during his weekly radio show on Thursday.

Saban didn’t commit to whether Young will be available for the showdown at Neyland Stadium.

“Bryce has practiced some this week. I think it comes down to does he feel and do we feel that he can throw the ball effectively enough,” Saban said. “He’s not gonna hurt himself by doing it. I just don’t know how much it will hurt him if he does it. He’s done it on a limited basis.”

The junior has passed for 1,202 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three interceptions with a QBR of 84.7 this season. Young has also rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Young completed 25 of his 36 passes for 385 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions in Alabama’s 55-3 rout vs. Vanderbilt on Sept. 24.

Alabama narrowly beat Texas A&M 24-20 at home last week, while Tennessee handled host LSU 40-13.

Alabama leads the all-time series 58-38-7, with 15 consecutive wins vs. Tennessee. Tennessee’s last win in the series came in 2006.

Alabama-Tennessee is slated for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday and will be televised on CBS.
