The number of teams capable of pulling an upset against No. 1 Alabama is small, and may have even shrunk in recent weeks.

But ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit has identified one, and even explained how that team would do it.

“Clemson is the only team athletically that can beat Alabama,” he said this morning on “Get Up” on ESPN, according to The Spun.

Clemson’s change at quarterback, from Kelly Bryant to Trevor Lawrence, was because of Alabama, in Herbstreit’s mind.

The Tigers lost to the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff semifinal last season. Lawrence, a highly-regarded freshman, is the kind of athletically-gifted QB that could give Alabama problems.

Lawrence has completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,549 yards, 18 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has nine touchdowns and one interception since he was named the starter five weeks ago.
