No. 1 vs. No. 2 calls for GameDay.

On Saturday, ESPN’s “College GameDay” announced that it will be heading to Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Nov. 9 for No. 1 LSU at No. 2 Alabama. The SEC West showdown seems like an obvious destination for ESPN’s traveling pregame show, but Minnesota coach PJ Fleck’s plea for “GameDay” to choose Minnesota-Penn State over Tide vs. Tigers did win over World Wide Leader personalities Paul Finebaum and Kirk Herbstreit. Finebaum will be wherever the SEC Network’s “SEC Nation” pregame show decides to go and most Alabama fans will presumably still welcome Herbie to UA campus.

Alabama and LSU are of course both on Week 10 byes, so the Week 11 showdown should be No. 1 vs. No. 2 as far as the Associated Press Top 25 is concerned. The College Football Playoff selection committee will unveil its first rankings of the 2019 season on Tuesday.

The LSU at Alabama game is set to be the “SEC on CBS” showcase game with a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
