Danny Kanell was firm on his betting pick ahead of Monday’s national championship on the latest edition of CBS Sports HQ.

Kanell is planning on laying the Wolverines and taking the under. Michigan is currently favored by 4.5 points against Washington ahead of kickoff. Kanell is interested to see how the Michigan pass rush effects Michael Penix Jr. and believes Michigan can get the running game going.

“I don’t think I’m gonna waver much. No matter what news comes out, barring an injury to JJ McCarthy in practice or something with Blake Corum. I just think Michigan is the better team, so I’m gonna lay em’. I’m gonna lay the 4.5 points with the Wolverines,” said Kanell. “I think the key matchup of the game is Washington’s offensive line and can they protect Michael Penix. I think it could be a struggle, I think they impact him. The bigger disparity to me is Michigan’s run game. I think they’re able to establish the run against Washington’s defense.”

Michigan and Washington meet in Houston to compete for the national title. It will be the 1st time that an SEC has not been in the championship since the 2015 CFP Championship between Oregon and Ohio State.
