Alabama has added some depth at wide receiver in Drew Kobayashi.

The pass catcher signed with California out of high school in the class of 2016, but he later left Cal for Washington State as a preferred walk-on, per a report from AL.com. The Tide, too, have added Kobayashi as a walk-on. He left Washington State in May.

The 6-2, 200-pound receiver was a high school teammate of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at St. Louis High School in Hawaii. He recorded 34 catches for 695 yards and four touchdowns. Tagovailoa was his quarterback. Kobayashi was a two-year second-team All-State selection.

He was arguably the top receiver from Hawaii during the 2016 recruiting cycle.

Kobayashi didn’t record any stats at Washington State. Exiting high school, Kobayashi was a 3-star prospect and was ranked as the nation’s No. 123 receiver and the state of Hawaii’s No. 5 overall prospect in the class of 2016, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

With the Tide’s depth chart absolutely loaded at receiver, it’s unlikely Kobayashi will see any meaningful snaps.
