Nick Saban was not exactly in a jolly mood after Wednesday’s practice at the Capstone and he took it out on the media. Saban scolded members of the media when asked about the status of Tide tight end Jahleel Billingsley during his press conference.

A member of the media asked what had Billingsley done to see his role increase last week to play in the Florida game.

“Well he’s doing what he is supposed to do, he’s practice better he’s more engaged and he’s more focused on what he is supposed to do and he’s having more positive performance on the field. which is what any player is supposed to do,” Saban replied.

Then the Tide coach threw a little shade at the reporter.

“Did any of you play sports? I mean, the coach is supposed to play the best players, right?”

“But maybe if you didn’t play, maybe that’s not something you quite get.”

Yeah, sounds like Saban is already in mid-season form. Billingsley didn’t start for the Tide the first two games of the season, but started last week against Florida and had a touchdown catch.
