Former Alabama OL Evan Neal has a message for New York Giants fans, whose boos could be audibly heard across MetLife Stadium as they expressed their distaste for the home team’s play.

The Giants right tackle took note of the fact the majority of it seemed to be directed at the offense.

“They were booing us, so I said, ‘Boo louder!’” Neal said, via Darryl Slater of NJ.com.

Neal, a former first-round pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, has been met with plenty of criticism since many believe his play has not matched the expectations of a player selected that highly.

“The person that’s commenting on my performance, what does he do?,” Neal said.

“Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere?… Most critics really don’t understand the game of football to the level that we understand it in this building. So why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep? I’m just going to focus on Evan — and getting better. I honestly do not care what anybody has to say about Evan Neal, because they’re going to talk anyway. At the end of the day, I put a lot of good things on film. But people are going to go and find the bad reps, and that’s what they’re going to highlight. That’s what they’re going to put out there. I can’t control that. So why should I care?”

It’s clear that Neal doesn’t put an incredible amount of stock into fan perception and who the people in the stands are, but there’s no question the Giants are going to need to show improvement up front to remain a consistently competitive football team with just 1 win so far this season.
