Julio Jones was a dynamo wide receiver for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

His translation the NFL game has been pretty seamless, shining regularly for the Falcons. On Sunday, he hauled in his 500th NFL reception during Atlanta’s opener versus the Bears.

Not only is that stat impressive, but the time it took him to reach the mark is incredible. He and Anquan Boldin are the only players to reach 500 catches in 80 career games according to Mark Inabinett of AL.com.

He has averaged almost 100 yards per game in his illustrious NFL career — 96.3 to be exact. The Alabama native has been a part of numerous pro bowls and is consistently one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Some could have anticipated Jones’ accomplishments. He was an All-State performer and Alabama’s Mr. Football back in high school.

During his career at Alabama, he had over 2,600 receiving yards and 17 total touchdowns.
