After a season away from the SEC, Travaris Robinson is set to make his return to the conference.

Robinson spent the 2021 season with Miami as its defensive backs coach. That followed 5 seasons with South Carolina, after which he was eventually not retained by incoming head coach Shane Beamer prior to the 2021 campaign.

According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman and Aaron Suttles, though, Robinson is headed back to the SEC, set to be hired to a yet-to-be-announced position at Alabama.

While Robinson’s position has yet to be unveiled, the program has been in the hunt for a new cornerbacks coach. Jay Valai left Alabama to join the Oklahoma staff as co-defensive coordinator.

Prior to his tenure at South Carolina, Robinson coached defensive backs at his alma mater, Auburn, in 2015. That followed 4 seasons in the same position at Florida. His coaching career actually began with Auburn as a graduate assistant in the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Robinson is set to be joined by another former South Carolina assistant in Coleman Hutzler, who has also been reportedly hired by Alabama.
