Frank Reich said he didn’t want to overstate it being the first day of rookie minicamp, but the Carolina Panthers coach gave high marks to rookie QB Bryce Young.

“He did every little thing right,” Reich said. “The little throws out in the flat, the bubble screen stuff, the deep overthrow, throws in the flat, just threw it with accuracy. Saw it well, knew where guys were supposed to be. Just showed complete command.”

Reich added that Young “mentally and physically looked the part in every way.” He also commanded the huddle and kept everyone “loose.”

Reich said “it’s a big deal” that Young was on the field an hour before practice and added that it puts the team in the right mindset by virtue of that leadership.

Reich admitted that he sees early chemistry between Young and WR Jonathan Mingo, the first 2 draft picks from this year’s class, and that they will be intentional about creating chemistry.
