Funny Maine messed with SEC Network’s Takeo Spikes on Wednesday’s edition of Out of Pocket.

Spikes attended Auburn and played linebacker there during the late 90s. Maine, who is an Alabama fan, did some trolling and argued that Alabama’s top rivals are LSU and Tennessee, not Auburn.

“If you’re a certain age of Bama fan, then LSU is probably the biggest rival. If you’re another certain age it’s probably Tennessee,” said Funny Maine. “That’s it, I think that’s all of our rivals. So we’re just looking forward to a rivalry.”

Spikes’ reaction was priceless. At first, he played along and said Maine just forgot about Auburn.

“Funny Maine, hold up,” said Spikes. “Now you’re naming everybody else, but you’re forgetting to name the Auburn Tigers.”

Maine fired back by saying that Auburn isn’t really a rival of the Crimson Tide. He compared Auburn to a bad roommate situation.

“Auburn ain’t really a rival. It’s more like a really bad roommate situation. That’s what Auburn is,” said Funny Maine. “We have to live with these people every day in the state of Alabama.”

Spikes took that insult personally.

“How dare you Funny Maine. Both of your sisters went to Auburn. You have kids that go to Auburn and you still gotta still be on the other side, huh?”

Maine’s efforts in recruiting his family members to Alabama didn’t work, the actor and comedian had to admit they were getting an education down in Auburn.

“My nieces and nephews they are down there at Auburn,” said Funny Maine. “I tried to bribe them over the years, but that uncle money just didn’t get the job done. They’re down there getting an education so it is what it is.”

Spikes had the last word when it came to Auburn’s academic standards.

“One of the best educations that they ever can get.” said Spikes.

There are few things better than an in-state rivalry.
