Greg McElroy has had enough, and wanted to make it clear on Wednesday morning on his WJOX radio show, “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” that he loves Alabama, and will do anything to support Alabama.

While his wife and sister also went to Alabama, and McElroy said he’s raising his kids to be Alabama fans, he’s tired of the narrative that he’s too negative. Though he understands that he doesn’t have to appease the critics.

“I’m a little tired of this narrative that I don’t like my school,” he said. “I just kind of want to address it, like I’m really fed up with it. Like I really am. Like all these clowns, the Barstool Bamas, the Crux Oxenweilers or whatever. The Alphonse Taylors, shank, who I don’t even remember playing at Alabama, I just remember him being described as the laziest dude on the roster. That’s what I remember. That’s trying to remain relevant, which is perfectly fine, I don’t care. He uses Bama, I don’t.”

The issue appears to be Kadyn Proctor, and the offensive lineman’s decision to transfer from Alabama to Iowa, and play in his home state. The debate is between tampering, and maintaining a relationship.

“Do I think what happened with Iowa is tampering? Perhaps,” he said. “By the letter of the law? Sure. Did their relationship that they maintained throughout his time at Bama, is that considered tampering? Perhaps, I don’t know. By the NCAA’s bylaws, yeah, it might indicate that it is. But what you need to also understand is that every school’s doing that. We need to be real careful, regardless of what team you’re for, if you’re for UAB, or Georgia, or Florida. So tell me this, is what Kirby (Smart) did after the SEC Championship, by going over and talking to Caleb Downs, congratulating him on a great year, is that tampering?”

McElroy suggested to not unearth skeletons that might make everybody look bad, and noted that Proctor would have to play guard at Alabama going forward. And Proctor, according to McElroy, didn’t want to do that.

McElroy also shared that the Big Ten, which is focused more on power than sheer athleticism, is likely a better fit for Proctor.

“All the people that are critical of me, and talk noise to me, and rip me on Twitter because it’s cool to make fun of me, which is fine I don’t care, I get paid a lot of money to voice my opinions, I’m perfectly fine with that, I do not care,” McElroy said. “I’ll say this: All the same people that are critical of me were probably also critical of Kadyn Proctor on Twitter, when he was giving up 5 sacks against South Florida.”
