Greg McElroy, an ESPN college football analyst, on Monday noted concern with a certain strength for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

On his show “Always College Football,” McElroy noted that after No. 3 Alabama’s loss to No. 11 Texas over the weekend, he doesn’t consider teams like Alabama “dead under any circumstances.”

“But Alabama does feel vulnerable,” McElroy added, and said Alabama is “more vulnerable than ever.’ “Areas for Alabama that were supposed to be strengths coming into this year did not play like strengths this past weekend.”

McElroy put emphasis on the struggles that the Crimson Tide’s offensive line faced against Longhorns. According to McElroy, Alabama sophomore quarterback Jalen Milrose was pressured 19-of-35 on drop backs.

“There was some form of pressure coming in his direction,” McElroy said, noting the Longhorns’ 5 recorded sacks.

McElroy gave credit to Texas’ defense, adding that it’s “very underrated and very underappreciated.”

But, McElroy said, the offensive line is “the heart and soul of Alabama.” McElroy mentioned the concern began in Alabama’s win over Middle Tennessee on Sept. 2.

“When your strength isn’t playing like a strength, everyone around is going to play a little bit concerned,” McElroy said. “Maybe press and do a few too many things. That group has to collectively play better. They have to take a significant step forward.”

McElroy said that Alabama “can still figure things out,” including with Milroe and its secondary.

“It all starts with their strengths playing at a much higher level,” McElroy added.
