Jalen Hurts’ future was the big topic of discussion on Thursday.

That was after Bleacher Report’s Matt Hayes came out with a story quoting Hurts’ father who said that his son would transfer from Alabama if he didn’t beat out Tua Tagovailoa for the starting job. The elder Hurts also said that his son wasn’t going to change positions just to get on to the field.

Damien Harris was also quoted in Hayes’ story as saying that Hurts wasn’t about to give up and those who thought he’d just be content to spend his career on the bench didn’t really know the Tide quarterback.

There was a little more to that quote from Harris:

Harris has a point. Hurts did guide Alabama to consecutive national title berths, and he earned SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors as a true freshman in 2016.

As for whether Harris’ comment will ease some of the potential fan backlash directed at Hurts for even considering transferring (according to his father), that remains to be seen.

All we know now is that Hurts’ future in Tuscaloosa is certainly up in the air.
